It actually happened.
After much speculation Marvel Rivals has officially confirmed Deadpool to be a Vanguard, Duelist, AND a Strategist when he comes to the game on January 16th as part of the Marvel Rivals Season 6: Night at the Museum content update.
Deadpool made a unique appearance within the game after a teaser trailer for the next season was aired as part of The Game Awards 2025 – where players immediately accepted that his presence within the duelist (damage) part of the roster must be a clear sign that the merc with a mouth was coming to bring the hurt.
Only …he didn’t stay there. As each week passed, his role within the game was updated to cycle through all of the character archetypes – before settling with a mysterious “?” for a role. Surely he can’t do it all?
That’s right, what everyone was speculating actually happened, Deadpool is all three roles.
You’ll be able to select what kind of arsenal you want at the beginning of the game and when in your teams spawn room. Changing abilities on the go, what’s not to like? Deadpool is fitted with an amazing amount of emoticons similar to Squirrel Girl and even gets a team-up with everyone’s favourite Strategist, Jeff the Land Shark.
Deadpool’s Ultimate Ability even charges faster depending on how fancy you fight during your game, using a style system to make sure you are putting on a show.
As for his plethora of unique kits, well:
- As a Duelist he’s got his dual swords and pistols
- As a Vanguard he gets an adorable unicorn plushy bubble that gives out shields
- As a Strategist, his guns, well, heal his allies and damage opponents.
How very Deadpool of him. He can even pause for a selfie mid-battle.
Of course Season 6 brings with it a whole new Battle Pass offering, packed to the gills with new skins as the story of Marvel Rivals brings us to the collection of the great Taneleer Tivan, also known as the Collector, who has a plethora of goodies for your viewing pleasure. Caution: Some collections may observe you in return. This is normal.
It should be noted there will be a upcoming Deadpool themed “Whack-A-Jeff” event to acquire the Free 8-Bit Bash Jeff the Landshark Skin. A new pirated themed skin is already ready for Deadpool, and brand new accessories for even more heroes.
Of course including Deadpool gets his very own Jeff the Land Shark.
