December 2023’s PlayStation Plus Essential Games Have Been Revealed

Speed, suds and Sable

We’ve almost completed another lap around the sun, look at us go. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster when it comes to the PlayStation Plus monthly games, with some updates being all-timers and others being…timers. The big, white-haired fella is about to visit, but before he does, the blue subscription service has one last gift to give. November gave us Mafia II: Definitive Edition, Dragon Ball: The Breakers and Aliens Fireteam Elite, which wasn’t bad at all, but can the final month do any better?

As announced on the PlayStation Blog, the PlayStation Plus Essential games for November are LEGO 2K Drive, Powerwash Simulator and Sable. These three games will be available to download from December 5.

Building your own kart before taking it into an open world filled with destructible environments and challenges aplenty, LEGO 2K Drive is exactly what you would expect from a LEGO kart racer. Complete with a story mode and various vehicle types to scream around in, 2K Drive is a surprisingly robust title with a healthy dollop of charm. We gave it a 9.

I tell you what, there are few things more satisfying than taking a powerwasher to a filthy surface. Phwar. And, if you’re wondering if that satisfaction transfers into the digital space, the answer is yes. Powerwash Simulator is exactly as it sounds, you head to one of several locations that are in desperate need of some TLC and slowly transform them from run down to front runners. With a range of cleaning devices and products at your disposal, it’s all too easy to lose yourself to the high-pressure wash.

A well-written and aesthetically unique third-person adventure game, Sable is somewhat divisive. For every glowing review that praises it for its stunning visuals and touching narrative, there’s another that references the various bugs, glitches and odd mechanical decisions. Regardless of who’s opinion you lean towards, the game is undeniably beautiful, and hey, it’s worth playing to decide for yourself. We gave the game a 5.

If you haven’t downloaded Mafia II: Definitive Edition, Dragon Ball: The Breakers and Aliens Fireteam Elite, you’ve got until December 4 2 to do so. As always, please remember that you can add these games to your library and download them later if you don’t have any precious space on your hard drive.
