Digital Extremes Drops 30 Minute First Look At Soulframe

Join us, won’t you?

Digital Extremes has lifted the lid on its next project, with a solid 30 minute gameplay demo for Soulframe debuting during its yearly Tennocon event over the weekend.

The meaty video gives us our first detailed look at the co-op action title, with a quick overview of some of its combat mechanics, dungeons and boss battles. Safe to say, fans of God of War and Elden Ring have plenty to look forward to if this is anything to go by.

I’m especially intrigued by the ancestor soul system, which looks like it has a fair amount of choice behind it that you can change at your leisure. There are four ancestors listed in the demo, calling out archery, blade (i.e. sword mastery, which is primarily used by our off-screen player here), athletics and archanic, with a few empty slots that will no-doubt be kept secret until the game drops. How far these will go in terms of skill-sets and the like remain a mystery, but I like what I see so far.

You’ll also be making a pact with various mythical beasts of the land, providing you with some unique spells to make use of during combat. The demo specifically calls out Ode Tempest, which has an ability that can freeze enemies and turn them into stone in an instant.

No release date or platform information has been confirmed as yet, but things are looking mighty intriguing so far, so let’s keep a close eye on this one. What do you think though? Has this first look piqued your interest? Were you in from the start? Let us know in the comments below and on our socials.
