EA has reportedly cancelled an unannounced single-player game set in the Apex Legends and Titanfall Universe, displacing around 50 employees in the process.
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, EA and Respawn Entertainment have cancelled a yet-to-be-announced single-player game codenamed Titanfall Legends. As the project’s name suggests, the now cancelled single-player shooter would have been set within the Apex Legends and Titanfall universe, though little else is known about the title. According to Schreier’s report, designer Mohammad Alavi was directing the project; however, he has now left the company entirely.
The team of roughly 50 developers will reportedly be reshuffled into positions within the company, though it’s assumed that layoffs will be unavoidable for those who can’t be moved elsewhere.
NEW: Yesterday EA and Respawn quietly canceled a single-player game in the Apex/Titanfall universe, according to three people familiar. EA will try to find new positions for the ~50 people who were on the team but will lay off those who can't be placed: https://t.co/E5ivrqDUsa

This comes just days after EA and Respawn announced that they would be sunsetting Apex Legends Mobile, with the game shutting down for good in May.
While we haven’t seen any Titanfall content since 2016’s Titanfall 2, fans of the series have been very vocal about their desire to see the shooter return. Moreover, Respawn hasn’t been shy about including hints and teases to potential Titanfall content, with Apex introducing Ash as a playable Legend, who previously appeared as an antagonist in Titanfall 2.
Are you a fan of Apex and/or Titanfall? Would you have played a new single-player game set in that universe? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
Big shoutouts to Bloomberg.
