Everything Announced At The Game Awards 2024

What. A. Show.

It’s almost strange to watch a showcase like this at midday, not in the early hours, through bloodshot, sleepless eyes. It’s very much appreciated, but weird all the same. That said, I still needed to keep the coffee flowing to stay sharp because clocking in at over three hours, this showcase was an absolute monster. Despite the long runtime, this year’s Game Awards will likely go down as an all-timer, filled with huge announcements, big moments, and apparently a few awards handed out as well. So, let’s not waste any more time.

Here is everything that was announced during The Game Awards 2024:

Ninja Gaiden Ragebound

A retro side-scrolling action game from The Game Kitchen, the devs behind Blasphemous. Harkening back to the series’ roots, Ninja Gaiden Ragebound is a pixel art return that will likely be hard as nails—coming to consoles and PC in 2025.

One Move Away

A first-person puzzle game that has players pack up their shit and do their best to jam it into their car, uncovering personal character stories with each move in true “cosy packing game” fashion. I could’ve sworn this was a VR title, but it looks like the flat-screen normies will have this one all to themselves. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2025.

Slay the Spire 2

The deck-builder is back. Slay the Spire 2 will introduce new cards, relics and potions, as well as a new cast of characters and a few returning ones. This one will be hitting early access in 2025.

Dave the Diver: Into the Jungle

More DLC for the ever-growing Dave the Diver. The In the Jungle expansion will include a new story and a new environment to dive into. Coming to all consoles in late 2025.

Thick as Thieves

From Deus Ex and Epic Mickey creator Warren Spector comes a new immersive sim-flavoured PvPvE multiplayer stealth game. Set in an alternate-history 1910s metropolis, it’s poised to feature plenty of emergent gameplay, rich lore, a steadily growing toolkit and other buzz terms. This one is coming to PS5, but we just don’t know when.

Shadow Labyrinth

What on earth. Based on the Secret Level episode that focused on Pac-Man, Shadow Labyrinth is a 2D action platformer that has you playing as Swordsman No. 8, accompanied by a floating “PUCK’ that gobbles up enemies. Genuinely wild, this one is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC in 2025.

Steel Paws

We don’t have much pull apart from this short cinematic trailer, but we do know that Steel Paws is a new mobile game by Yu Suzuki, the creator of Virtua Fighter. It’s a Netflix joint and will be available in 2025.

Tales of the Shire

A bit of a reminder that Tales of the Shire is still in the oven, but also an announcement that it will be coming out of that oven on March 25, 2025.

Stalcraft X Operations

I’ll admit, I’ve never heard of Stalcraft X, but I know now that the new Operations mode will be a PvE affair for three players to go dungeon crawling as they fight bosses and fight against escalating challenges. You can expect this mode to come to Stalcraft X in 2025.

Midnight Murder Club

An online multiplayer horror co-op game with comedic, emergent gameplay moments ripe for streams and social clips. It’s a fully original idea! A crossplay open beta is now available for PS5 and PC. It will be releasing in early access in February 2025, with a crossplay beta running between PS5 and PC right this very minute.

Kyora

The Swedish studio behind the beloved Core Keeper, Pugstorm, Kyora, is a 2D multiplayer action-adventure title that’ll have you and your friends delving into the depths of caves, battling creatures and looking for loot. No date for this one, but you can wishlist on Steam now.

REMATCH

I’d wager that no one expected Sloclap, the developers behind the amazing Sifu, to go on to make an online soccer game, huh? Regardless, that’s exactly what’s happening with REMATCH. With a similar art style to the kung-fu beat ‘em up, this is a 5v5 online soccer game with fast-paced gameplay focused on skill and cooperation. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2025.

Solasta 2

An incredibly lush-looking tactical RPG adventure that is already doomed to be compared to Baldur’s Gate 3. Launching in 2025 with a demo coming to Steam “soon.”

The Witcher IV

A big opener for the show “proper,” with the next game in the world of CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher finally getting a title reveal along with the revelation that our protagonist is an aged-up Ciri. We see her fighting a nasty-looking monster in a dark and foggy forest using all of the tricks of the Witcher trade (and then some) in a very pretty pre-rendered sequence.

“There are no Gods here, only monsters.” Phwar.

Elden Ring Nightreign

Well, this was unexpected. Nightreign is a new Elden Ring title that focuses on co-op gameplay. Movement and traversal are far more fast-paced, with characters flying around on Spirit Ashes and mantling objects. The official wording for this one avoids the term “roguelike,” but players in groups of three will be completing runs, trying not to die and hoping to face the final boss at the end of a three-day cycle. Sounds an awful lot like a…roguelike. Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in 2025.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

We love a short and sweet announcement. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be coming to PC on January 23rd, 2025.

Untitled Fumito Ueda Game

From the creator of some of the PS2’s most iconic games (and one of the PS4’s games), Fumito Ueda, and genDESIGN, comes a brand-new title. The announcement reveal doesn’t give away a title or gameplay but a tease of some absolute vibes with a dark and moody sci-fi aesthetic that also manages to borrow liberally from past Ueda joints. Hell yeah.

The Outer Worlds 2

A typically tongue-in-cheek new trailer from the folks behind Fallout: New Vegas (sorry, Fallout 3 Part 2) and the upcoming Avowed, with a fresh look at gameplay and plenty to chew on for fans of the best Bethesda game in years that was made by someone else. We can expect it on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2025.

Steel Hunters

From Wargaming, the folks responsible for the likes of World of Tanks and World of Warships comes something a little less steeped in real-world combat and more high energy and Transformers-esque. An alpha playtest for this free-to-play PvPvE mech shooter is happening right now on PC via Steam.

Blackfrost: The Long Dark II

An incredibly gorgeous-looking sequel to the beloved The Long Dark, promising another compelling and tense survival experience. It’ll feature a new survival sandbox with new hazards and either single-player or cooperative gameplay when it launches in Early Access in 2025.

Borderlands 4

It certainly looks like Borderlands. We get a quick look at the game’s various environments and the Vault Hunters we will be playing as. Oh, and Claptrap is back…great. There seems to be a grander narrative at play that’s hinted at the opening and closing of the trailer, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Final Fantasy XVI x Tekken 8

Clive from Final Fantasy XVI is making his way to Tekken 8, like Noctus before him. As part of the Year One Pass, Clive will be available as a playable fighter from December 16.

New Virtua Fighter

Ryu ga Gotoku Studio (Like a Dragon franchise) is returning to the world of Virtua Fighter. A dedicated Virtua Fighter Direct is happening, which will hopefully shed a lot more light on this surprising and exciting development.

Project Century

RGG with an announcement doubleheader, this time a brand-new title codenamed Project Century, set in 1915 Japan and looking incredibly intriguing. We can’t wait to learn more.

Turok: Origins

Who here expected a return from Turok at The Game Awards? Put your hands down, you’re all lying. Origins is an action game that can be played solo or co-op, where players fight against dinos and other creatures, absorbing their essence and taking on their abilities once defeated. No date just yet, but we’re told that it’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Helldivers 2 | Omens of Tyranny Update

The third enemy race, the Illuminate, has finally been revealed alongside a goddamn buggy with a mounted machine gun. This new race looks to have turned the freedom-loving citizens of Super Earth into zombie-like husks. Best blow them the fuck up, then. Oh, this is a free update, and it’s available right now, so go spread democracy.

The First Berzerker: Khazan

Introduced by the Russo brothers, for some reason, I’m sure, we got a fully cinematic trailer for The First Berzerker, for some reason, I’m sure.

Onimuhsa: Way of the Sword

We had to check in on our own Zach Jackson following this announcement just to make sure he hadn’t passed out with excitement. The long-dormant series is finally making a comeback, with the cinematic trailer showing the familiar sight of souls entering the Oni Gauntlet. We haven’t seen gameplay or even been told how the game will…play, but it’s looking like what you would expect from a modern Onimusha. It’s coming in 2026 to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Split Fiction

Josef Fares is back and has brought his best swears to the TGA stage. Another co-op adventure from Hazelight, naturally, but this one’s upping the ante once again with a fantasy world-hopping journey based on different sci-fi and fantasy realms. This definitely looks to be taking the co-op and action platforming design chops of It Takes Two and applying them to something even bigger and bolder. Looks like we’re getting a sequel to the stuffed elephant moment, too.

It’s coming out on March 6th, so it’s not far off at all.

Dying Light: The Beast

A new look at this standalone Dying Light 2 spin-off, with even greater threats than before from both zombies and something potentially more sinister hiding in the woods. It’s coming in Winter 2025.

Stage Fright

From the studio behind Overcooked, the trailer for this kicked off with a very accurate depiction of a regular Overcooked conversation. This new title is another co-op joint but this time we’re going on a co-op adventure that’ll no doubt be giving Hazelight a run for its money in the co-op adventure stakes.

Game of Thrones: Kingsroad

It’s that bastard, Jon Snow! Along with a bunch of other familiar Game of Thrones characters as depicted by HBO. This feels like a game that should’ve happened a decade ago, but it certainly looks flashy. It’s coming to mobile in 2025.

Double Dragon Revive

This has to be some kind of record. Arc System Works has announced that Double Dragon Revive will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on October 23, 2025. Announcing a release date that’s ten months away is wild, but here we are.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered

I wonder if Naughty Dog has been able to get anything else done while they’ve been busy remastering The Last of Us time after time. Part II is finally heading to PC on April 3, with the roguelike No Return mode, Guitar Free Play and heaps of PC optimisation.

Den of Wolves

A new look at the upcoming co-op joint from the creator of Payday, Payday 2 and GTFO. This is technically a gameplay reveal trailer, but the snippets of gameplay are cut together so quickly it’s hard to get a real feel for the moment-to-moment, but holy shit, this looks rad. A cyberpunk-leaning heist game with the gunplay from GTFO? Sign. Me. Up. All we can do right now is wishlist it on Steam.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

The Sonic Racing/All-Stars Racing games are genuinely some of the best arcade racers around. While there’s not a ton to glean from this cinematic trailer starring Hedgehog of the Moment, Shadow, it’s still very exciting to see that Sonic and Friends aren’t done burning rubber just yet.

Mafia: The Old Country

Sure, it leaked ahead of the show, but this trailer for the brand-new entry in 2K’s Mafia franchise definitely has the goods. It looks like we’re returning to the more focused, cinematic stylings of the original game, which can only be a great thing. Coming fairly soon in Winter 2025.

Dispatch

A new one from some of the folks behind The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands, this looks like it has all those classic peak-Telltale goods and then some, with a sharp sense of humour to go along with it. What can only be described as a  “superhero workplace comedy,” Dispatch is looking to marry a strong comic book aesthetic with more detailed choice and gameplay-driven narrative, and it’s coming in 2025.

Okami Sequel

I never would have guessed this was coming, but it’s really true – Kamiya is back with Clovers (plural, these days) to bring us an honest-to-god sequel to the great Okami. Absolute dying wish stuff, here.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Naughty Dog’s long-rumoured original sci-fi title has finally been officially unveiled, and it looks completely different to anything we’ve seen from the studio before. Tati Gabrielle stars as Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter stranded on the planet Sempiria, in a game that Naughty Dog is describing as having its “deepest gameplay” yet and will also feature an original musical score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. You can even spot Kumail Nanjiana in the trailer, here:

That was a marathon and a sprint, somehow. There were plenty of cinematic trailers that only set the tone, but I don’t think it would be a stretch to say that this was one of, if not the best, Game Awards ever. Good work, Geoff, you managed to celebrate ten years in style. Don’t forget, The Game Awards aren’t just about the World Premieres; there were some actual awards handed out, so go over to our other wrap-up article to see who took home the trophies.
