This morning brought one of the first major digital showcase events for the June “Summer of Gaming” season, giving us a brand-new and lengthy PlayStation State of Play dedicated (mostly) to third party and PlayStation partner titles, with stacks of new trailers and reveals.
And for those among us who’ve been patiently awaiting the day, braving countless rumours and having blind faith – it’s finally happened. Announced during the event, Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles is bringing the PS1 tactical spin-off classic to modern platforms with a plethora of promising (and optional) enhancements.
Dropping on September 30, 2025 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2 and PC, The Ivalice Chronicles promises two distinct versions of the game depending on what sort of experience you’re looking for. An “enhanced” version adds a revised script with fully voiced dialogue, a brand-new UI, improved visuals and a whole bunch of tweaks to make battles more fun and approachable. Conversely, the “classic” will be a faithful recreation of the 1997 original coupled with the War of the Lions translation for a still-unique experience.
