Kojima Productions has announced that Hideo Kojima will be hosting a Death Stranding 2: On the Beach special panel at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, on March 9.
Announced on the studio’s website, the legendary developer and all-around odd fellow (in a good way) will be taking to Ballroom D at this year’s SXSW to “discuss and share new details about Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the upcoming sequel to the critically acclaimed Death Stranding video game.”
Announced during The Game Awards 2022, we’ve only really seen Death Stranding 2 pop up once more during the Tokyo Game Show, where we were treated to some bizarre scenes of characters posing for the in-game photo mode before a musical number broke out. A PlayStation State of Play has been announced for tomorrow (February 13), and Death Stranding 2 was on the shortlist of games expected to appear, so this could either debunk that theory or galvanise it. On the one hand, Kojima might want to save the good stuff for his panel, or a short trailer and release date could be shared tomorrow, followed by an in-depth look at the game during SXSW. We’ll have to wait and see.
The announcement does confirm that a live stream of the panel will be available, but there are no rock-solid details on offer at the moment, so we’ll keep our fingers on the pulse for now. If you happen to be in Austin on March 9, the panel will be taking place in Ballroom D at 4pm CDT.
