Japanese publishing and development giant Square Enix has finally revealed the release date for the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts III, which is set to release in the West on January 29, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The reveal occurred not during Square’s E3 press conference, but at the Los Angeles leg of the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour. Taking to Twitter to share the exciting news, game director Tetsuya Nomura apologized that the development team are taking a little longer than expected to bring the game to life. To their credit though, January 2019 isn’t so far off from the initial 2018 release window, and whatever extra time is necessary to make the best KH3 experience possible is fine by me. We’ve announced the release day for KINGDOM HEARTS III ahead of E3 at the KINGDOM HEARTS Orchestra -World Tour-. I’m sorry that we’re asking for a little more time than initially planned. Please look forward to other information, including a few trailers at E3. Thank you – Nomura
