They detail that the agreement allows them to develop a range of collectible figures across the Diablo and World of Warcraft universes – sadly falling short on anything StarCraft related.
Cristy Collins, Vice President of Licensing for McFarlane Toys dispelled any hope that maybe StarCraft was just accidentally missed, with a statement very clearly detailing that it was the fantasy franchises getting all the love:
We are thrilled to announce this partnership with Blizzard and to be working with them to bring these iconic game universes to life in a way that only McFarlane Toys can. Diablo and Warcraft both have millions of passionate fans and we’re excited to provide another way for them to engage with these brands.
Another franchise that was noted in the announcement was Warcraft Arclight Rumble, the lane-based ‘auto battler’ announced back in 2022. The mobile title has a gorgeous aesthetic that is incredibly toy inspired, so this feels like a perfect fit for McFarlane.
While this wont be the first time that a Blizzard property is turned into physical figures – it does mark the first time that McFarlane Toys will get a stab at it. McFarlane has a pedigree for creating exceptionally detailed figures for a range of properties, with an affordable price tag and a product reach that means you can quite often find them locally – so you may well be browsing Diablo demons at your local collectible store before long.
The initial product line will launch September-ish to coincide with the release of Diablo IV. No images of any figures has been shared as yet, but rest assured I will be keeping an eye out to see what goodies await.
How the heck do you represent the wings of a Diablo Angel with plastic? I just gotta know.
