Developer Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack have revealed Mortal Shell II, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026.
This morning’s Summer Game Fest opened with the surprise announcement of a Mortal Shell sequel filled with grotesque enemies and what is sure to be some hard-as-nail gameplay. A standalone sequel, Mortal Shell II is a challenging RPG that reintroduces the Shell mechanic, allowing players to step into the forgotten forms of fallen warriors, each with its own unique gameplay style and abilities.
The game will feature over 60 dungeons to explore and likely die in, each offering its own challenge. The promise of a dense, interconnected, open world filled with secrets to uncover and optional bosses to fight will be tantalising for fans of the genre, and that’s without mentioning the various weapons, upgrades and subtle story elements.
