Nemesis: Retaliation Has Launched On Gamefound And I’m Scared For My Financial Wellbeing

We’re in the end game now

Awaken Realms has officially launched the campaign for its latest game, Nemesis: Retaliation. The campaign will run until December 14 and fulfillment is scheduled for April 2025.

The third and final installment in the critically acclaimed Nemesis board game series, Retaliation was first announced in March of this year, with further details drip-fed to us since then. Mixing up the formula somewhat, while staying faithful to the two games it’s following, Retaliation is a semi-cooperative horror board game that will out one to five players in the armour of marines, ordered to irradicate a deadly alien threat.

Arguably the biggest change to the format is the introduction of a modular board. Unlike the first two games, Retaliation will see you slowly uncovering the layout of the installation you’re exploring, not just the room types. Similar to something like Betrayal at House on the Hill, this fog-of-war-style approach to exploration fits well in a horror setting, so I’m keen to see how it adds to Nemesis’ already insane tension.

As hardened marines, fully aware of the horrors that await, you’ll be packing bigger and better equipment, and combat will be more frequent and more involved. Kitting yourself out with weapons and supplies, you’ll be taking on more creatures at once than ever before. Accompanying the increased focus on combat is the introduction of a chain of command, allowing higher-ranking characters to issue orders to those below them. Certain characters from previous sets will also be compatible with this new set, letting them see the end of the long-running story.

Right, let’s talk content. The pledge levels for Retaliation are thankfully quite easy to follow for a big box game. Here are all of the pledge levels available for Nemesis: Retaliation:
