Obsidian’s Grounded And Pentiment Open The Forbidden Door For Xbox On Switch

A double dose of Obsidian on Switch

A week after setting the scene for the future, and with rumours circulating Nintendo delayed its own presentation to avoid clashing, Xbox has featured heavily within said Nintendo Partner Direct by confirming Pentiment is headed to Switch this week, and Grounded set to port over April 16.

Grounded, a four-player survival game, will launch on Switch with cross-platform multiplayer, ensuring Xbox and PC players will have a new gang of fellow tiny people to play with. Pentiment, meanwhile, seems to be a straight port of the narrative-driven adventure.

Both titles come to us from Obsidian and were received rather well. That’s especially true of Pentiment, which we thought was a “towering watermark for choice-driven narratives” and picked up a coveted Well Played Godlike 10 out of 10. No doubt Xbox will be keeping a close eye as to the response to both titles when they make the journey across, though whether either title will venture any further to the blue side of street remains uncertain for now.

With two titles now confirmed, two remain to be revealed as Xbox’s slight shift in strategy to multiplatform publishing takes shape. Hi-Fi Rush remains a likely candidate, but it all remains a secret for now. Will you be picking up either Grounded or Pentiment on Switch? What other Xbox games are you hoping will make the jump to multiplatform soon? Let us know in the comments below and on our socials.
