Yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play presentation gave us a look at what’s on the horizon (literally) for PS5 and PS4 owners. During the 30-minute showcase, they also let slip the games that will be included in next month’s Essential lineup and, when I say it’s the wildest mixed bag yet, I mean it.
As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, October’s PlayStation Plus Essentials games are WWE 2K24, Dead Space, and Doko Doki Literature Club Plus!. These three games will be available for download from October 1.
After taking a break from the series after the disastrous 2K20, the annual WWE titles have been going from strength to strength. Now that things are back on track, each release has been slowly tweaking the existing formula, tightening gameplay and presentation, while adding in new match types and modes. Special Guest referee, Ambulance and Casket matches are this year’s additions, alongside a fun Showcase Mode centred around the highest matches in WrestleMania history. Lapsed fan or diehard, 2K24 is worth a look at. We gave it a WWE 2K24.
The original Dead Space released in 2008, was well-received, earned a banger of a sequel, fell off a cliff with the third entry, and then seemed to be doomed to the what could have been bin. That was until the Motive Studio remake released in 2023. Keeping the brilliance of the source material intact, while giving it a thoughtful facelift, the Dead Space remake just about manages to everything right, so it’s a shame we likely won’t see the same love given to the sequel. We gave Dead Space a 9.
Right, how do I talk about Doki Doki Literature Club without ruining it? Ok, let’s try this. As a student, you join the Literature Club in hopes of finding a love interest. During your studies, you’ll make choices that will…effect how the games story plays out. I can’t say much more, other than play this before someone spoils it for you. Best of luck in your studies.
If you haven’t downloaded Quidditch Champions, MLB The Show 24 and Little Nightmares II you’ve got until September 30 to do so. As always, please remember that you can add these games to your library and download them later if you don’t have any precious space on your hard drive.
Which game will you be downloading first? What games would you like to see in November? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
