October’s PlayStation Plus Games Have Been Revealed

Fairways, flanking and fatalities

September gave us an eclectic bunch of PS Plus games, bundling together Overcooked: All You Can Eat!, Hitman 2 and Predator: Hunting Grounds, making for an odd but fun mixture. The spookiest month of the year is at our doorstep now, but will it be a treat or will we be tricked into playing some average titles? The announcement on the PlayStation Blog confirms that there won’t be any toilet paper or eggs thrown this year, as the line-up for October is pretty strong. PS Plus members will be able to download Hell Let Loose (PS5 Only), Mortal Kombat X and PGA 2K21 from October 5.

An Australian-developed title, Hell Let Loose is a WWII online multiplayer shooter with a bit of a twist. Featuring 100-player combat, this first-person shooter mixes in a number of real-time strategy elements, such as Commanders that give orders and balance abilities to change the tide of battle. With 14 different classes, a variety of weapons and vehicles and huge, open maps, this is one for those who enjoy the likes of Battlefield. Keep in mind that Hell Let Loose is this month’s PS5 only title and will not be available on PS4.

Ninjas, four-armed warriors, Hollywood movie stars and elder gods punching and kicking ten shades out of each other, you know what Mortal Kombat’s all about. MKX introduced a number of new features, included multiple fighting styles for each kharacter. This entry also provides a solid roster of new and returning kombatants, so newer and older fans will be appeased. It’s not the most recent Mortal Kombat, but that doesn’t take anything away from this excellent fighting game.

Once you’ve pulled yourself out of the trenches and away from the fatalities you might want something a little more relaxed to round out your session. With improved golfing mechanics and a focus on enjoyable gameplay, PGA 2k21 is an 18-hole experience that will likely tickle the fancy of those who enjoy the sport, as well as those who might just want to hit a ball around with a few mates (we gave it an 8). Obviously, this one won’t be for everyone, but 2K21 is one of the better golfing games around, so it definitely makes par.

If you haven’t downloaded Overcooked: All You Can Eat!, Hitman 2 and Predator: Hunting Grounds, you’ve got until October 4 to do so. Remember, if you’re not wanting them to take up space on your console right now, you can always add them to your library and download them later.

What do you think of this month’s line-up? Which game stands out the most to you? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
