To say Concord is floundering in the post release period would be an understatement. The multiplayer shooter has barely been out for a few weeks, and the biggest talking point seems to be the lack of player numbers on platforms like Steam – but there may be a new set of figures to light up online discussion.
Concord estimated to have sold 25,000 units, with around 10,000 sales on PC and 15,000 on PS5 — total failure.

These developers and publishers need to stop putting out live service games, it's a highly saturated market that is already well served.https://t.co/50hInTYDOs
Data handed to IGN suggests that the sales numbers for Concord are beyond dire, looking close to the following:
- 10,000 copies on Steam
- 15,000 copies on PlayStation 5
That is an incredibly low number of owners for the game – a death knell for an multiplayer only team-based shooter that depends on 10 people to make a game happen.
It is a harsh reality for both Sony and developer Firewalk, because now there will be a tough conversation regarding what strategy could be explored to to try and get the game off the ground. Going free to play? A big pivot to the games design?
Some insight was offered to IGN to perhaps offer an explanation for what attributed to the failure to launch:
Offering a key insight into the shoddy performance, Circana’s Mat Piscatella explained that Concord has ‘low awareness and purchase intent among video game players.’ Basically, nobody knows it exists and they don’t want to buy it if they do. With Concord being a new IP, it didn’t have an existing fan base to pick from, and starting from scratch needed an intense marketing campaign
This makes a great deal of sense, and really I am in no fit position to offer a better explanation. What do you think of the outcome? Did you pick up Concord? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
Shoutouts to IGN.
