Overkill’s The Walking Dead Delayed Until February 2019 On Consoles

Overkill’s The Walking Delayed

The development hell for Overkill’s The Walking Dead just got a little bit worse, well for console players anyway, with Starbreeze Studios revealing that the game’s console publisher 505 Games has made the decision to delay the console release until February 2019. The new release date has been set for February 6th, 2019 in the Americas and February 8th, 2019 in Europe (Australia). The PC release will launch as originally planned on November 8, 2019.

The decision, which is a bold one considering the number of heavy-hitters already scheduled for February, was made to ‘ensure a simultaneous release of the console version digitally and in stores to achieve optimal marketing impact and maximize sales’, according to a statement. While this news is frustrating, it’s hardly surprising given the number of delays the game has already faced. Hopefully this is the final delay fans have to deal with.

In the meantime here’s 20 minutes of gameplay footage from E3 2018 via Polygon:
