PlayStation Announces One Billion Hours Of Play

Sony Interactive Entertainment Australia has recently announced an amazing milestone of more than one billion hours of entertainment consumed in Australia over the course of the last twelve months on PlayStation.

“This is the first time Australia has reached this incredible milestone. PlayStation has been the country’s highest-selling console for the last four years and to reach one billion hours of play across gaming and entertainment demonstrates that PlayStation is the leading entertainment platform and continues to be Australia’s favourite place to play”. – Patrick Lagana, Director of Marketing, Sony Interactive Entertainment Australia

This milestone showcases the scale at which Australian’s love their entertainment, and with the volume of content consumed in the past twelve months, PlayStation’s data has revealed the following:

• Fun-seeking Australians have consumed more than one billion hours of play on PlayStation over the past twelve months,
• Hours of play across PlayStation gaming, music, TV and video rose 26 per cent year on year,
• Australia is a nation filled with entertainment enthusiasts, with 67 per cent playing video games, and over 3.7 million subscribing to a streaming service!

To put this incredible milestone into perspective, one billion hours equates to 100,000 years! It is also interesting to note that this milestone occurred when a multitude of PlayStation exclusive titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Gran Turismo Sport, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy were released.

This figure was announced at PlayFest 2017, a celebration of PlayStation gaming.
