Sony has lifted the lid on its remote-play device, named the PlayStation Portal, which is set to release later this year.
Revealed during the PlayStation Showcase in May, the Portal is a handheld device with an eight-inch LCD screen that outputs 1080p resolution at 60fps and connects to a PS5 console via Wi-Fi, allowing for remote play. The sides of the Portal are more or less a split DualSense controller, while audio output is taken care of via a 3.5mm jack.
We don’t have a solid release date as of yet, but thanks to PlayStation Blog, we know that the unit will retail for $199.99 USD (roughly $310 AUD), which is a fairly hefty price tag. More information will be available when the pre-orders for the unit go live later in the year.
As part of the same blog post, we’ve also been given more details on the two PlayStation official headsets coming later this year. The first is the Pulse Elite headset, which has a similar design to the current Pulse headset and offers lossless audio and a retractable, AI-enhanced mic. The headset also comes with a charging hanger that allows for easy and appealing storage. The second set is the Pulse Explore, which is a set of wireless PlayStation earbuds with a premium charging case, dual mics and lossless audio. The Pulse Elites will cost $149.99 USD (roughly $230 AUD), and the Pulse Explore will run you $199.95 USD (roughly $310).
