Price And Release Date For Xbox Series X And Xbox Series S Leaks

Making consoles is leaky business

After months of waiting it looks like we finally have a price and release for the Xbox Series X and the industry’s worst kept secret, the Xbox Series S (the design was leaked earlier today), with both highly-sought pieces of information leaking this afternoon

According to Windows Central (usually a pretty good bet with Microsoft-related goss), both the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S will launch on November 10, 2020. The Xbox Series X will come in at US$499 (approx A$685), while the Series S will be significantly cheaper at US$299 (approx A$410). Windows Central goes on to say that an event will take place soon, where Microsoft will officially announce the release date and pricing for their next-gen consoles.

With no official word yet, any Australian pricing would be speculation. However, in a move that should please future owners of a next-gen Xbox, the pricing of the Series X and Series S is the same as the Xbox One X and One S when they hit the market, so finger’s crossed they are comparable. The article does mention Xbox’s financing service – Xbox All Access – which will be available through Telstra in Australia.

While the Xbox Series X has been known for a long time now, the existence of the Series S model has still not been confirmed by Microsoft. However, we know that like the One S, the Series S will be a lower-powered unit. The specs are rumoured to be 4 teraflops of power, 7.5GB of RAM and an NVME SSD, and it’ll be a discless console.

After being caught with their pants around their ankles, Microsoft’s response to the leaked pricing and release information on Twitter is gold, and pretty much confirms everything. Over to you Sony.
