The wait is finally over

Psychonauts 2, the long-awaited sequel to Double Fine’s cult classic platformer and one of my most anticipated games of 2021 has just gone gold.

This means that, potential final polish and tweaks for a day one update aside, development on the game is finished and it’s ready to release on its scheduled launch date of August 25th.

Xbox players can pre-purchase and pre-install right now through their consoles, while punters on PC can pre-purchase through the Windows Store or Steam and PlayStation users can similarly grab it through the PlayStation Store.

If you’re keen to see what this huge sequel is all about, Double Fine recently dropped a brand new story trailer that you can check out below:

Psychonauts 2 launches August 25 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5 (via backwards compatibility), PS4 and PC.

While you’re here, why not have a read of our extensive preview coverage of the game, following around five hours of hands-on gameplay as well as interviews with the legendary Tim Schafer and Lisette Titre-Montgomery:

Written By Kieron Verbrugge

Kieron's been gaming ever since he could first speak the words "Blast Processing" and hasn't lost his love for platformers and JRPGs since. A connoisseur of avant-garde indie experiences and underground cult classics, Kieron is a devout worshipper at the churches of Double Fine and Annapurna Interactive, to drop just a couple of names.
