Remedy Confirms Alan Wake 2 New Game Plus And Two Expansions Are All On The Way

It’s not a lake; it’s an expansion pass

We’re in the midst of an Alan Wake rebirth, with the long-awaited launch of Alan Wake 2 this week. Remedy aren’t about to rest on their laurels as the game ships out to digital storefronts though, with a fresh tease for two future expansions and a confirmed New Game Plus mode that’s currently in the works too.

While we knew an expansion pass was coming, you can purchase it now as part of the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, but this is our first brief glimpse as to what they may entail thanks to a recent press release. The first pack, titled Night Springs, will throw players into multiple episodes of the in-game horror TV show (think The Twilight Zone) with a number of familiar faces taking part.

Meanwhile, The Lakehouse will explore the mysterious facility built on the edge of Cauldron Lake, where players of the original game may recall was the ill-fated location of Alan Wake’s holiday home.

Both DLC packs are expected to arrive some time in 2024, with Night Springs listed as Spring (Autumn here in Australia), though neither has a locked-down release date just yet.

Elsewhere, Remedy has taken to the Alan Wake X page (formerly Twitter) to confirm a New Game Plus mode with a twist. You’ll be able to venture back into Alan Wake 2 with all of your previous upgrades and equipment, but there’s a promise of a unique alternate narrative that will supposedly feature new manuscript pages and live-action video content not seen during the original story. How different it will be remains a mystery, but it’s a very cool way to pull us back in a second time.

Sadly there’s no release date yet for New Game+, but if you’re looking for more Alan Wake outside of this highly anticipated sequel, you could always jump into Fortnite and play Alan Wake Flashback, a wonderful recreation of the first game’s key moments within the Fortnite engine.
