Today’s Overwatch 2 trailer showcased the girthy PvE offering to come, but it also came with a fun little tease at the end.
A mysterious figure appeared in silhouette against a corona of effervescent light – their identity shrouded. Who on earth could this stranger be? Perhaps some lore-centric figure that will define the PvE experience? Some omnic deity that will forever change the fate of Overwatch? Is it Tracer’s girlfriend?

Ah.
Well fair enough, players that have been paying attention to the development cycle of Overwatch 2 are already aware that the current release schedule does mean that we are getting back-to-back support characters. Lifeweaver is the first step towards meeting this mysterious stranger, but there has also been some further clues to reveal a little more about them.
A poster that appeared within the game actually revealed a healthy clue about what region this latest cast member may hail from, with a developer update utilising a chunk of the Peru poster. We also had some hints from people close to Blizzard mention that the character will operate very differently from Lifeweaver – who had an auto-target heal. Does this mean our new helper friend needs to aim?
Well, the astute observers out there have already played with some contrast on the image and revealed a feminine figure that may well be carrying a big ass gun…blade?

This raises even more questions. With a Peruvian background, are we leaning into someone that perhaps harnesses sunlight as a source of their power? What about the weapon – is it some stonkin’ great big sword gun? It appears to be held like a rifle, with a stock.
The outfit looks lithe and mobile – with no sign of any special flight harness or hover gimmick like Pharah or Mercy, so this support may well be landlocked.
All speculative of course, but in the absence of concrete details speculation reigns. But we can absolutely lock in the Peruvian/Inca references:

A pose that is referencing an Inca king? That is some royal blood right there. It is exciting to think what may be coming for the support players out there, with both Kiriko and Lifeweaver offering some amazing new playstyles.
Perhaps Peruvian lady with a BFG might be another breath of fresh, healing air.
What do you think? Is it a gun, or a sword? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
