Sonic 3’s Popcorn Bucket Might Have Revealed Shadow The Hedgehog

Buttery fingers are seeking the edgelord

Fans are getting desperate to see a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. With all the casting complete and filming wrapped, they know that the next bit of media for the movie must SURELY contain a glimpse of Sonic’s dark doppelganger – the ever-edgy and awesome Shadow the Hedgehog.

This desperation has pushed people to look elsewhere for a taste of his bad-boy energy, and sure enough – someone has found him on a popcorn bucket:

Interestingly enough, this grainy image is genuinely the first time we have seen the ultimate weapon as he appears in the sequel. An after-credits scene from Sonic 2 revealed his existence – but a lot can happen between movies, plus he was floating in a gooey tank so it hardly counts.

Since the reveal that the big man himself, Keanu Reeves, would be voicing the dark-quilled wonder, excitement for the film reached an all-time high. It means the ensemble cast is flexing an impressive array of godly talent, with Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Colleen O’Shaughnessey and Idris Elba all returning to embody the SEGA stars. With plenty of hints that this film is going to go entirely off the rails, it’s easy to buy into the excitement.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to release December 20, 2024.
