Sonic Frontiers Was Successful Enough To Prompt A Higher Budget For Future Titles

Some more rings in Sonic’s pocket

November of 2022 was a pretty packed month for gaming, and one of those big titles that really made a splash was Sonic Frontiers.

An investor Q&A session has revealed that SEGA is confident with Sonic Frontiers market performance, following strong sales and a great reception with fans – prompting the conclusion that a bigger budget for the blue blur might be a swell idea:

Frontiers was a surprise delight for many (We gave it an enthusiastic 7 out of 10). It was excellent to see a mainline Sonic game that managed to incorporate some big ideas in fresh and cohesive ways without falling fall flat on it’s face. I am personally pretty stoked to hear how Sonic Team is labelling it a mid-to-high-range success, and absolutely a good example of what they can achieve in a modern Sonic title.

Where Sonic Team goes from here is anyone’s guess, but if they can continue on a similar path we can be confident that the next outing for Sonic may well be a banger. While we wait however, there is still an abundance of free Sonic Frontiers DLC releasing to keep us sated.
