Boy howdy, do I have some good news for you. The ever-gorgeous and critically charming Potionomics has finally entered it’s final stages of development, and is speeding towards an October 17th release date!

Basically the game has a core gameplay hook of haggling with prospective buyers by using a card battle system, where you play cards to grow a customers interest while staving off their attempts to fleece you for a bargain.
Managing relationships with your clientele plays a big part – and you can supplement this by making better products and even kitting out your shop to be the hottest spot in town for magical goods. Something you NEED to do, because you inherited the shop and it is currently in a wicked amount of debt. Uh oh.
It’s a fantastic idea that elevates the mundane task of a conversation into something really engaging and fun – and it’s helped by having some of the most engaging and well animated character designs I have ever seen.
The description on Steam nails paints the best picture of Sylvia’s plight:
After the untimely death of her uncle, a penniless witch named Sylvia finds herself thrust into the role of potion proprietor. It’s all up to her to carry on her uncle’s legacy and keep his potion shop afloat. Thankfully, she won’t have to go it alone. With help from some new friends, Sylvia must hone her negotiation skills, outsell her craftiest competitors, and make her shop THE number-one potion destination in Rafta. It’s all about mastering the finer points of Potionomics!
Honestly, the thrills of debt and capitalism never looked so fun.
The game is just oozing charm and creativity, with a gorgeous artstyle that I just can’t stop staring at lovingly. Did I mention there are cat pirates? With a theme song made out of ‘meows’?
