The Legendary Fumito Ueda, Creator Of Ico And Shadow Of The Colossus, Has Revealed His Next Game

Colossal news

Today’s broadcast of The Game Awards 2024 was packed with some pretty exciting new looks and first reveals of upcoming video games – and even had the occasional Game Award thrown in for good measure – but few announcements stood out or came as such a pleasant shock as the unveiling of the next game from an all-time great, Fumito Ueda.

Yes, the man behind classics such as Ico and (my favourite game of all time) Shadow of the Colossus, as well as another video game titled The Last Guardian that I maintain is actually quite good, is officially back and again working with his team at GenDesign to bring as an as-yet-untitled new joint currently going by the codename of Project: Robot.

The roughly two-minute trailer that debuted at The Game Awards shows a project that is unmistakably an Ueda joint, with very familiar iconography on the apparent protagonist’s cloak as they climb a giant mech that bears a striking resemblance to the third Colossus in Shadow of the Colossus, if you ask me. It’s all very mysterious and teaser-y, so check it out below:

While there’s absolutely no indication that this one is coming any time soon, we do know that it’ll be headed to PlayStation, PC and Xbox – a first for an Ueda game – and is being published by none other than Epic Games.

What did you think of this reveal during The Game Awards? Are you in for another banger from Fumito Ueda? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
