It’s not the first time Rick and Morty have taken time out of their busy schedule to drop a little endorsement, and it’s no surprise that they’d give a little push to God of War Ragnarök.
In a rapid little short, Rick and Morty nail most of the things you’d expect from a God of War skit – shaved heads, a leviathan axe and murderous birds:
It’s a very generous portion of ‘fine’. Like I mentioned above, the Rick and Morty crew have generously shilled other properties in the past – and this one seems to fall a little flat. I’d even go so far as to say that series creator Justin Roiland sounds downright flat when voicing Rick in this microtoon – almost phoning in the smartest man in the universe.
Or maybe it’s a deep meta-commentary on the state of commercialisation. Are we slaves to advertising? Is the fictional character of Rick Sanchez deeply aware he is a puppet, forced to dance for console gamers?
Maybe I need a higher IQ to get it.
