I thoroughly enjoy that Souls series, but I never got a chance to play Demon’s Souls, the GrandDaddy of the franchise. I’ve thought about grabbing a copy and getting ahold of a PS3 to play it, but I never bit the bullet with it. That’s why I was so stoked to see that Bluepoint Games were working on a remake of the game as a launch title for the PlayStation 5.
We’ve already seen a small bit of gameplay from the PS5 showcase, but we now have a new five-minute gameplay trailer that shows off the impressive visuals that Demon’s Souls are repping as well as two savage-looking boss fights.
In classic Souls fashion, the trailer takes place in a dark and atmospheric location as the player strikes down a number of fodder enemies. But then a fog gate hits the screen and we know that it’s on. One long corridor later and the player is face-to-face with a huge, fire-spitting spider. A number of close-range mandible attacks and area of effect fire attacks later and the demon is slain.
Don’t get too excited though, as shortly thereafter the player is faced with a fearsome fire demon that moves far quicker than expected. A few gound-pounds and some light toasting of the player later and we see the very familiar sight of “You Died”. Brutal and grim, this trailer is everything I want from this game, give it a watch:
Demon’s Souls releases on PS5 on November 12.
Are you excited for Demon’s Souls? Will you be picking it up day one?
