Big robot fans are fast approaching the September release date of Transformers One, and to help pass the time a little quicker the Paramount marketing team have dropped a new featurette spotlighting the juggernaut voice cast bringing the Cybertronians to life.
Given that Transformers One is telling the often-mentioned-but-never-outright-told origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, it isn’t a huge leap to accept that these familiar fan favourite sound a little different – they are much younger after all.
And begrudgingly, I gotta admit that Chris Hemsworth makes a pretty great Orion Pax/Optimus Prime.
It’s a pretty ripper cast, with the following Hollywood megastars repping the core cast:
- Chris Hemsworth (Orion Pax / Optimus Prime)
- Brian Tyree Henry (D-16 / Megatron)
- Scarlett Johansson (Elita)
- Keegan-Michael Key (B-127 / Bumblebee)
And a special mention to both Steve Buscemi as Starscream and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion, the kind of casting I would have only ever dreamed of. Big Stevie B as the hilariously inept and duplicitous second in commend of Megatron is something a younger me would have never imagined.
