Devolver Digital Has Joined A Growing List Of Publishers That Are Not Attending E3 2023

Video game publisher Devolver Digital has announced that it won’t attend E3 2023.

Following the announcement that Ubisoft will no longer have a presence at E3 this year, acclaimed publisher Devolver Digital has taken to Twitter to follow suit. In the Tweet, it’s confirmed that Devolver will be forgoing E3 2023 and will instead have a presentation during Summer Game Fest.

However, ifyou want to go to a parking lot in LA, eat a hot dog, and drink a beer sometime in early June we won’t stop you.

Devolver has been an E3 mainstay since 2017, with its off-kilter showcases being a highlight of the entire event. Featuring an ongoing narrative that began with Nina Struthers, the fictional Chief Synergy Officer at Devolver, the showcases would focus on absurd skits as much as they would on upcoming video games.

This adds to E3 2023’s growing issues, with Nintendo, Xbox, Sony and Ubisoft all skipping the event, leading many to wonder what will actually be on show. Furthermore, IGN has reached out to numerous companies to confirm their E3 status, with both Sega and Tencent responding that they will not be in attendance.

A Sega representative stated, “After careful consideration, we have decided not to participate in E3 2023 as an exhibitor. We look forward to sharing more information on announced and unannounced projects in the future.”

Overall, things are looking bleak for the once-great gaming event. With other events, such as Summer Game Fest growing in size and publishers hosting their own livestreams that don’t need to compete with other companies, there’s less and less reason for E3 to continue.
