Developer Playground Games has announced that its open-world racing game, Forza Horizon 5, will be releasing on PS5 in the Autumn of 2025.
A blog post on Forza.net has revealed that the latest instalment in the long-running open-world arcade racing series will be making its way to PS5 in the coming months, with all previously released car packs and expansions also being made available as additional purchases. As detailed in the blog post, the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 is being developed by Panic Button in conjunction with Turn10 Studios and Playground Games.

The Forza Horizon series is a popular one, and for good reason. More accessible and far less serious than its Motorsport cousin, Horizon drops players into an open world filled with races and other racing-adjacent activities and asks them to have a good time first. Horizon 5 is set in Mexico, and despite being very similar to the game preceding it, we loved it, giving it an 8.5 in our review.
Initially released on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in November of 2021, this re-release will be the first time any Forza game has been made available on a PlayStation console. The floodgates opened back in February last year when CEO of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer, President of Xbox Sarah Bond, and Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty sat down on the Official Xbox Podcast and announced that a selection of first-party Xbox games would be making their way to other consoles.
Those games ended up being Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, and Grounded. Later in the year, Xbox doubled down on its new approach to software by pushing its “This is an Xbox” advertising campaign, in which everything but the kitchen sink is shown running Xbox games, whether natively or by way of streaming. We aren’t living in a world where Xbox is purely a publisher and owner of the Game Pass subscription service just yet, but this is the next step in that direction for sure.
