Game Industry Insider Casually Suggests Mortal Kombat 12 News Could Drop In May

A formal reveal might be koming

When it comes to the Mortal Kombat series, we currently know two things – creator Ed Boon loves to troll, and Mortal Kombat 12 was revealed via a goofy earnings call within Warner Bro’s top brass.

This leaves quite a void when it comes to what we can expect from the newest game in the series – and ol’ Eddie boy isn’t doing much to help fill that gap. This leaves fans rabidly scraping the web for any clues that might suggest when we will learn more – and today has revealed something of note.

Jez Corden of Windows Central has dropped many a tidbit about games in the past, and a casual tweet from him this day suggest that May could be the Mortal Kombat month we’ve been waiting for:

Maximilian Dood is a juggernaut in the fighting game community, and his love of Mortal Kombat 9 is well placed – and the comment from Jez is just cheeky enough to feel like a real tease. Jez has made comments to titles in the past, particularly on podcast episodes, mentioning unreleased titles and previously unknown details in a casual manner so blasé that you’d question how it could possible be a fib. And in many cases, these little notes eventuated into truths – so a call out to keep an eye on May carries some weight.

As far as events in May go, there are some murmurs of a PlayStation showcase – with further rumours that people have heard that the plan is for MK12 to be announced there. With the game apparently on track to release this year, a marketing period needs to spin up reasonably soon to capitalise on a preorder period, so dropping a proper mid-year reveal could do wonders.

Either way, the kommunity for this brutal beatdown simulator will continue to pine and dream of what may be coming – so keep an eye out for what May might bring.
