The MCV/Develop Awards have taken place again this year, bringing back the award show that focuses on European game developers and their huge contributions to gaming internationally – and Helldivers 2 was absolutely nominated, with the developers Arrowhead Game Studios in attendance.
They had to suit up and be present for their nominations for Best Game, Best Game Design, Best Technical Innovation and Best Studio.
And sure enough, the Arrowhead crew took home Best Game Design!

For that category, it was some truly stiff competition – just take a look at some of these titanic names:
- Balatro
- Jusant
- Viewfinder
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Dave the Diver
Some other key awards handed out feel absolutely deserved as well, with Larian Studios taking home Major Studio of the Year AND Narrative Innovation of the Year, as well as a classy nod to PressEngine for Service Partner of the Year – though that might be a little more journo focused for the applause.
While we are not yet in the full swing of awards season, it is great to see a gong head to the Helldivers 2 developers in recognition of their very player-centric strategy. While it has been a bumpy road at times, you can’t deny that their care for the player base is admirable – and often lacking from some studios.
Well done Arrowhead Game Studios, here’s to a few more ribbons for your efforts.
