Karl Urban Reportedly In Final Talks To Play Johnny Cage

Has the Mortal Kombat movie sequel found it’s loud mouthed movie star?

Mortal Kombat news is hot and steamy right now, like so much spilled blood. It is a good time to be a fan – with Mortal Kombat 12 details due any second now, we can all enjoy a welcome distraction as we look towards news for the film sequel.

And what a headline it it – via TheWrap we have a report that Karl Urban, the absolute legend who has portrayed both Judge Dredd and is a huge face in Amazon’s The Boys, may well be getting a tacky chest tattoo to portray Johnny Cage in the as-yet unnamed 2021 Mortal Kombat movie sequel.

Many were clamouring for some particular faces to perhaps steal the role, with a not-so quiet majority making mention of how WWE’s The Miz would be a solid fit.

Currently the news via TheWrap comes simply as a report, with no full clarification to the source – but their track record is one of reporting information from reputable tips, so right now it’s a holding pattern until someone closer to either the production or Karl Urban releases a full statement.

The Mortal Kombat sequel is gearing up for full production soon, with original director Simon McQuoid returning to helm the project.

Do you think Billy Butcher will be a good Johnny Cage? Who was your first pick? Let us know in the comments or on social media.

Huge shoutouts to TheWrap.
