NetherRealm isn’t happy with merely bending and breaking spines, now they are taking aim at the timestream. Revealing the absolutely bonkers story trailer today, we can see that all manner of wibbly-wobbly timey wimey chaos is breaking out, including the goddamn highlight of multiple Johnny Cages.
It’s a fantastic storytelling trope that often becomes trite when used by the uninspired – but in the case of Mortal Kombat, we have the privilege of several decades of absurd characters and plot points to revisit, so sign me up. We also see some familiar faces from MKX revealed to be joining the roster, as Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs and my main cowboy squeeze Erron Black step up to stomp face.
A huge shout out to Kronika (assumedly the elder god of time) for deciding to give us all our temporal dream match ups, as Mortal Kombat™ 11 looks to deliver another stand out narrative experience.
If only I could hang out with a younger me so we could share each others excitement.
