Mortal Kombat 1’s Original Yellow Robot Ninja Is Incoming, With A New Twist

Still packing spinny blades and bombs though

Mortal Kombat 1 has wrapped up the first round of additional characters for the roster, so now attention turns to what is coming – and the first yellow cab off the rank is a familiar cyborg, Cyrax.

Only the altered timeline of Liu Kang has seen some changes to ol’ Cy the science bomb guy, with two main amendments:

  • Aint a CYBORG no more
  • Aint a GUY no more

But the mustard menace is still dropping all the familiar tricks you would expect, and a bunch of fun new ones – with a teeny teaser offered by Ed Boon to wet your whistle:

With bombs, spinning blades and a wicked new accent Cyrax 2.0 has shifted from an emotionless cyborg to a fiery femme that is happy to call out Sub Zero on his shit. This also applies to the red robot Sektor, who has seen a similar change – but this gameplay teaser is focused on lady Cy. For those paying close attention, you can also see that the stage on display is also a brand new one.

So keep an eye out across the next two days, because the big promise is a new video showcasing “Cyrax game-play (and story) trailer for Mortal Kombat 1: KHAOS REIGNS”, so it will be a generous portion of what is coming for the games big narrative expansion.

What do you think of the new and improved Tekunin cyber-ninja? Keen to see more? Tell us all about it in the comments or on social media.
