Newly Announced God Of War Comic Will Reveal What Happened Between Games

Let me hit you with an inarguable fact with zero bias: 2018’s God of War is genuinely one of the best games of all time (we gave it a 10).

Ok, maybe I’m a tiny bit bias, as it was my game of the decade, but there are plenty of people that would agree with my statement. In saying that, if we rewind the clock back to 2010 I had a very different view of the series. God of War III saw Kratos abandon all humanity, despite the fact that he had close to none anyway, and ripped the shit out of anything and anyone in his way.

This complete lack of care for any living thing just didn’t jive with me and made Kratos an unlikeable protagonist. Then the new God of War came along, humanised him, made me care about his life and now he is one of my favourite charaters in gaming.

In the confines of the games, this change was immediate, as Kratos’ new attitude was present from the begining of the game, but I’m sure he didn’t change overnight. Soon we will see exactly how and why he turned into dad of the decade.

Comicbook.com recently got the exclusive scoop on a new comic set in the God of War universe, titled God of War: Fallen God. Written by Chris Roberson and drawn by Tony Parker, who were both of the previous God of War comic, this installment will bridge the gap between God of War III and 2018’s God of War. The comic will launch June 2020.

Here is the official description and cover:

God of War: Fallen God follows Kratos after conquering Zeus and thwarting Athena. Believing himself to be finally free of his bondage, he sets sail for the desert in an attempt to distance himself from his home and his shame only to find his rage and guilt follow close behind. Kratos rages against the one foe that has proven to be unconquerable—himself. But a war against oneself is unwinnable, and only invites madness.

I’m a fan of comics and can’t get enough of God of War, so I will be all over this when it releases later this year, but what about you? Are you a fan of the series? Will you read the comic? Let us know.
