I know his real name is Matthew Lillard – but sometimes you just gotta recognise his signature role.
A series of Tweets has confirmed that the Blumhouse-produced Five Nights At Freddy’s film will include a few legendary names, including the always-hungry stoner of Scooby Doo fame:

Matthew Lillard is playing William Afton, a fairly iconic character within the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. If you are fan enough to look beyond the jump scares, you’ll realise that the creepy purple bloke is deeply woven into the mysterious narrative of animatronic spookies – although if you’d rather look over the Five Nights At Freddy’s Wiki to understand what is going on, there is zero judgement here.
There are also a handful of other casting announcements, including details that Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games!) will play a security guard – hardly a small role, if the film is going to mirror the games:

Mary Stuart Masterson and Piper Rubio have been cast in Blumhouse’s ‘FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S’ movie.
Masterson will play a villain and Rubio will play Abby, Mikes younger sister.

The studio seems to be working to make sure that the ingredients for this outing will result in a fun, yet freaky dish. Blumhouse has never shied away from embracing the more absurd side of thriller/horror flicks, so delivering an entertaining look at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria may be more likely that we think. Not bad, considering the film was first confirmed as ‘in production’ back in 2015.
