Uh Oh, Helldivers 2 Just Lost Another Planet

I am sure we left it right here

Something dramatic happened in Helldivers 2 while most of us slept. A planet was destroyed.

Now this isn’t an isolated occurrence – in fact, this is the second time such a thing has occurred – but in this case, the cause of this planetary catastrophe was a great deal more concerning because…

The baddies did it.

The black hole type thing that has torn beloved Angel’s Venture to bits was originally a planet known as Meridia – Super Earth command had ordered Helldivers 2 deploy on the planets surface and deploy a mysterious compound known as ‘Dark Fluid’ into the celestial bodies core, because it had become a staging ground for the Terminids. The mission was a stellar success, with Meridia being rent asunder and turning into a neat little black hole.

Then, the Illuminate faction returned and waged their spooky way upon us. Their horribly un-democratic tactics are mysterious and hard to track, appearing and disappearing within their corner of the galaxy at random times – until recently Helldivers noticed that Dark Energy levels across our fair galaxy was rising, and that the Meridian Singularity had started moving.

And the first planet in its path was Angel’s Venture.

Even as Helldivers desperately tried to slow, and even halt the accumulation of Dark Energy – it wasn’t enough. The verdant, green surface of Angel’s Venture is now just a memory.

And more alarmingly, there are plenty of other planets in the path of the singularity.

Including, eventually, Super Earth.

Considering this coincides neatly with the 12 month anniversary of Helldivers 2’s initial release, it’s a hell of a birthday.

Rev up those drop pods, we might be in for the fight of our lives.
