April 2022’s PlayStation Plus Games Have Been Revealed

Bandits in Bikini Bottom

The heavy-hitting releases are starting to ease, giving all some time to wind down and play something other than Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West and GT7. Our monthly dose of PlayStation Plus games is always a good source for in-between games, with March’s line-up consisting of Ghostrunner (PS5), Ark: Survival Evolved, Team Sonic Racing and Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. With April knocking on our door, it’s finally time to see what members of PlayStation’s subscription service will be treated to.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, the PlayStation Plus games for April are Hood: Outlaws and Legends, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated and Slay the Spire. These titles will be available for download from April 6, so you better make some room on your console now.

Oh, and I’m sure you’ve heard about the big changes coming to the PlayStation Plus service later this year, but in case you haven’t you can read all about it HERE.

Steal from the rich and spend your loot on upgrades. That’s how that goes, right? Hood: Outlaws and Legends is an online multiplayer PvPvE game set loosely in the world of Robin Hood. Two teams of rangers, mystics, hunters and brawlers work towards stealing and extracting a chest filled with gold. The only hiccup is that the other team is attempting to do the same thing and the AI guards and the intimidating sheriff are there to oppose them both. It’s a great premise and solid setting, with a number of issues here and there, but with like-minded friends, it can be a blast (we gave it a 6).

This game features a guy that lives in a pineapple under the sea I’m told. SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is a remastered version of the 3D platformer released on Gamecube, Xbox and PS2 back in 2003. Sporting updated visuals, control improvements and some new content, this is a light-hearted romp that will likely be popular with younger gamers or those who are looking for a hit of nostalgia (we gave it a 7.5).

An indie favourite, Slay the Spire is an addictive game that fuses together roguelike and deckbuilding elements as the player attempts to scale the titular spire. Using powerful attacks and abilities tied to cards, you’ll clear rooms, progress through the spire and face off against fearsome bosses. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself back at the base after a short time, as this is a tough title to crack.

If you haven’t downloaded Ghostrunner (PS5), Ark: Survival Evolved, Team Sonic Racing and Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, you’ve got until April 5 to do so. Additionally, Persona 5 will be leaving the PlayStation Plus Collection, so get that added to your library if you haven’t already.

Which game will you be downloading first? What games would you like to see in May? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
