Give Batista What He Wants Or He’ll Whisper Mortal Kombat To You While You Try To Read

Give him what he wants

The latest trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 has dropped, and I can say with 100% certainty that it’s the best one yet.

All of the MK1 trailers up until now have either set the scene for the game’s story, introduced fighters to the roster, or revealed DLC packs, but NetherRealm has decided to sift through its nostalgia closet this time, giving us a truly ridiculous and wonderful new trailer.

The “It’s In Our Blood Trailer” is a slice of live-action gold, starring The Animal himself, Dave Bautista, as a rather tatted and jacked librarian who goes out of his way to bother a patron, whispering Mortal Kombat to them softly before taking to the streets to walk through a Flesh Pit of danger.

The rest of the bonkers trailer sees the master of the Batista Bomb gathering a horde of everyday civilians who drop their day jobs, abandon their children in parks and put down a good book to join him for a bridge riot to shout MORTAL KOMBAT into the ether.

Please, for the love of all things good in this world, give the live-action trailer a watch:

Those eagle-eyed MK fans among us will find this trailer more than a little familiar, and there’s a good reason why. This new hype package is an excellent callback to the bizarre 1993 TV spot for the original Mortal Kombat. The OG ad featured 100% less child abandonment and didn’t have a whiff of Drax the Destroyer, but it did see a gaggle of excited gamers taking to the street, randomly shouting MORTAL KOMBAT at the top of their lungs. Cleverly, the new trailer even focuses on a similar red-headed kid who was at the centre of the original ad.
