With legally distinct Splatoon game mode

Being the first special event content roll out for Marvel Rivals means that the community is looking to this update to get a gauge on what they might expect moving forward – and honestly, the spread isn’t half bad.

From the update description, we see:

Ready to Shine? We’re bringing in ‘Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival’—a new game mode—so you can truly exude your land shark joy and take on new territories. A special winter greeting card with gifts from Jeff is also waiting for you…

In non-marketing speak, the update includes:

  • Unique winter-y skins for Magik, Venom, Jeff the Landshark, Groot and Rocket Racoon
  • A Splatoon-like territory control game mode where players spray as Jeff
  • “A special winter greeting card with gifts”

They have also confirmed that the Jeff skin will be free – so now players are anticipating whether it is tied to some form of gameplay unlock, or just a freebie handed out for logging on. Overall, not a bad little effort for a quick bit of festive fun while the game is still in its infancy.

It may even be the closest we ever come to playing Splatoon on the PC. Or Xbox. Or PlayStation.

Oh nevermind, scratch that last one.

For those in the southern hemisphere, all the fun kicks off on Friday, 20 December 2024 6:00pm.
