It has been a whole 12 months since the kick off of Overwatch 2, and to celebrate this trip around the sun a whole plethora of neat and nifty game modes are returning for your enjoyment.

The first week offers some mythological mayhem, with the return of the Battle for Olympus game mode – suiting up familiar heroes as figures from Greek myth for a brilliant smackdown. There are two distinct flavours to choose from, sporting Free-For-All Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch options for your pantheon-inspired punch up.
And on the chillier side, Mei’s Snowball Offense is also on offer with the full gamut of Freeze Tag, Yeti Hunt and more.
In week 2, the nutty PvPvE game mode Starwatch makes it’s comeback – and if you missed this one the first time around, I heartily recommend jumping in. It’s such a cool twist on the Overwatch 2 gameplay experience, I kind of wish it was a more predominant game mode. Point capture with narrative twists and exploding gravity barrels? I dig it deeply.
And if you aren’t a fan of Sci-Fi, the ‘kill confirmed’ game mode Catch-A-Mari will be back in action, alongside a playlist of Assault Maps for people that miss Hanamura.
Finally, week 3 will bring back the Summer Games – I still need to master Winston Volleyball – as well as the prop hunt game mode Mischief & Magic.
And throughout the entire event, an entirely new tab has been added to the in-game shop – one that only asks for in-game coins. In this tab, a slew of returning skins from the last 12 months have appeared and are priced in Overwatch Credits, the freebie funny money that you earn by playing the game; so put your wallet away.
Considering you can earn up to 3000 Overwatch Credits from numerous challenges throughout the anniversary event, it might be worth shooting a glance over this shop to see if something tickles your fancy.
